World Pulse Members Powerful Awards and Recognition

stella_laadli_awardIt is cause for celebration when grassroots women leaders—whose contributions to our families, neighborhoods, and our planet often go unacknowledged—receive public recognition for their difficult and essential work.

Over the last few months World Pulse community members have garnered a flurry of honors and awards, and these accolades have extended across our entire network! Revel with us in this thrilling moment for our global community.

olutosin-300x225Olutosin Oladosu-Adebowale of Nigeria has been honored with the Women Have Wings award for her Star of Hope Transformation Centre and her innovative, inspired, dynamic, collaborative, and, above all, courageous work. She was awarded a $5000 grant for her center.

Hummingbird headshotHummingbird, World Pulse Correspondent from Syria, was chosen as one of 50 delegates for the Women in Public Service Institute at Bryn Mawr College: Peacebuilding and Development.

Selected for her activism and commitment to creating non-violent change in her country, she will join the international delegation at Bryn Mawr College from July 7-19.

Stella awardStella Paul has continued since the 2012 World Pulse Voices of Our Future Program to steadily collect awards and fellowships, which have sent her travelling the world. Her recent recognitions include a Dart Center Fellowship, and a National Foundation of India National Media Fellowship.

zoneziwohZoneziwoh, World Pulse Correspondent from Cameroon received DAWNS Digest–Global Citizen Grant for a 3 to 6 month project that will narrate 15 personal and unique stories of grassroots women leaders involved in community mobilization, HIV/AIDs, peace building, social justice, and human rights advocacy.

leinaLeina, World Pulse Correspondent from Cameroon and the Founder & Coordinator of Gender Danger, is among 12 awardees of the Aspen Institute’s New Voices Fellowship.This groundbreaking initiative is designed to bring more expert voices from the developing world into the global development discussion.

adepejuAdepeju Jaiyeoba and Olutosin, both from Nigeria, were selected from 1000 applicants as two of 15 participants in the Coady International Institute Global Change Leaders program—a certificate course for emerging women leaders from the global south.

FINAL LOGO-HORIZONTAL_600x400 - CopyShwe Wutt Hmon from Burma and Neema Namadamu from the Democratic Republic of Congo have been invited by Vital Voices to join a prestigious network of emerging and established women leaders. As VVLead fellows they will receive three years of tools, mentorship opportunities, and training to advance their leadership.

neemaNeema Namadamu has received a number of other noteworthy honors, including the invitation to speak at the US National Mall earlier this month to address mass atrocities in her country for the One Million Bones event.

WinningAs these World Pulse members shine brightly, they bring visibility to our entire community and our collective work together.

In March, World Pulse was selected as a finalist for the a SXSW Interactive Award for our work uniting women in the Democratic Republic of Congo online.

We are proud to have been selected as one of Rockefeller Foundation’s top 100 Next Century Innovators!

As amazing as this list is, we know this is only scratching the surface!

“Equality of Women Among Women” is our mantra, and this woman lives by it, enables it and has devoted her life to it … <3
